The Bedell Barracudas Swim Team is a recreational yet competitive program that strives to develop strong and fast swimmers. Coaches will work on proper technique for speed while also building on each swimmer’s endurance in the water. Swimmers are encouraged to attend every scheduled practice and meet if possible. There will be two practice groups that will be assigned by coaches according to skill level.

Practices Begin: November 3rd

Ages: 5-18 years (Must be a YMCA member for the whole season)

Beginners: Must be able to swim 25 yards freestyle and 25 yards backstroke. Coaches will focus mainly on the basics. They will practice on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 4:15 – 5:00 PM

Intermediate/Advanced: Coaches will focus on preparing swimmers to be competitive at swim meets. They will practice on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 5:00 – 6:30 PM, Wednesday at 4:15- 5:45PM.

Cost:  $195 per child

Regional Swim Meet at the Wellmark YMCA in Des Moines, IA on March 20-22 2026. Regional qualified swimmers only. Please sign up before the deadline!

State meet (Girls March 8th) and (Boys March 7th) registration. This meet will be held in Marshalltown IA. State qualified swimmers only. Please sign up before the deadline!
